John was born and raised in The San Fernando Valley in Los Angeles, CA. He relocated to Sarasota with his wife and business partner Anja Buetergerds in 2006. John began working with Anja in 2008-09 and by July 2009 had become a licensed REALTOR® in the state of Florida. Together they have built their real estate team, they are avid home investors, business owners of vacation rentals and multi-family rental properties.
Prior to becoming a REALTOR in 2009, John was in the construction industry for 25 years as a project manager, estimator, contractor for seismic and structural construction. He has also worked in home remodeling, interior kitchen design and property management. Over time his experience working in the building industry led him to buying, selling and investing in property with Anja. That in turn grew his passion for real estate and a natural progression towards becoming a REALTOR®.
John says, “Learning to build wealth was a slow journey for me and it happened late in my life. My passion now is to help others learn how to build wealth through real estate faster than I have. I especially want to help young people learn how to manage money so that they can help themselves, help their families and help others. There’s no reason anyone in America should not reap the benefits this country has to offer. It’s just a matter of the right education.”
